Welcome to the Bunya Mountains Community Association Inc (BMCAI) website.

BMCAI hope the Website provides you with an insight into the locality of Bunya Mountains, and the activities and achievements of the Bunya Mountains Community Association Inc (BMCAI).

BMCAI is an association of property owners in the beautiful Bunya Mountains in Queensland.

The Bunya Mountains Community Association Inc (BMCAI)  aims to:

 a) provide a voice for consultation with local, state and federal authorities, on behalf of residents  and property owners of the Bunya Mountains and visitors to the Bunya Mountains; and

 b) work together with relevant bodies to enhance the liveability and protect the unique Bunya                                           Mountains village lifestyle and cultural and environmental heritage of the area.

The Bunya Mountains is home to some 45 full time permanent residents, some part time residents who share their living arrangements between the Bunya Mountains and the city or coastal areas, and some members whose properties are available for holiday accommodation.  There are in excess of 120 such properties.

BMCAI is a small, but very active group of volunteers, committed to enhancing the liveability of the Bunya Mountains for both residents and visitors. By mid 2023, BMCAI had advocated for, and achieved many successes in areas such as, improvement in access road conditions, and safety improvements in Bunya Avenue, “the main street” of the village and access to the cafes and National Park.  BMCAI also had an Automated External Defibrillator installed at the Shop, established a safe community landing site to facilitate emergency medical evacuations by helicopter and created a Community Street Library.  BMCAI has developed a Bunya Nut Recipe Book and is working collaboratively with the South Burnett Regional Council to clean up and revitalise the Allan Stirling Memorial Park and Western Downs Regional Council to clean up Rifle Bird Park.  There are several other projects now under way.

BMCAI has developed a BMCAI Community Plan 2023 -26 and BMCAI Workplan 2023 -26 to direct and guide our work for the next 3 years. These are attached for your information.
