PROJECT 03
Bunya Nut Recipe Book Project
The Bunya Mountains Community Association Inc (BMCAI) has developed and published a Bunya Nut Recipe Book. The project utilised the skills and knowledge of local, long-term Bunya Mountains residents, who value the bunya nuts and are experienced in the preparation and cooking of Bunya Nuts. BMCAI hopes that by publishing the Recipe Book, and sharing their member knowledge and experience with others, that many more people will come to appreciate and enjoy using this Bunya Mountains product.
The recipes were tested by members and collated by Project Coordinator, Kathy Taylor, into this wonderful new collection of recipes, utilising the unique bunya nut. The Recipe Book was professionally printed by Smartprint in Toowoomba through the generosity of donors: Cr Gavin Jones, South Burnett Regional Council contributed $300; Heritage Bank Nanango Community Fund contributed $300 and Western Downs Regional Council Community Grants Program contributed $1000. BMCAI is extremely grateful for these contributions, which has enabled the Recipe Book to be printed and ready for distribution whilst the Bunya cones are falling all around us!
The BMCAI is selling the books retail and wholesaling to businesses and visitor information centres.
If readers would like a copy, BMCAI is retailing the books for $18.99 each (plus postage and handling, if you would like a book posted to you). The Recipe Books are currently available from the Bunya Mountains Shop and Cedarvale (open on Saturdays and Sundays on Market Days) and are available from Visitor Information Centres in the South Burnett and Western Downs Regional areas. For further enquiries or to order a Bunya Nut Recipe Book, please email bmcainc@gmail.com
The proceeds from sales of this Recipe Book will cover future re-prints of the Recipe Books and also assist BMCAI to continue operating and embark upon further enhancements projects within the amazing community and environment that is the Bunya Mountains.
